同等学力英语新大纲(第六版)规定考生需要掌握的词汇量
新大纲规定,考生必须掌握约6000个英语词汇和约700个常用词组。对其中的2800个积极词汇要求熟练掌握
1.tend /tend/
(1) 往往会;常常就 (tend to do)
Women tend to live longer than men. 女人往往比男人长寿。
(2)趋向,倾向(tend to/towards sth)
His views tend towards the extreme. 他的观点趋于偏激。
(3)照料;照管tend (to) sb /sth
Doctors and nurses tended(to) the injured. 医生和护士护理受伤者。
2.attend /əˈtend/
(1)v.出席;参加(2)v.注意,专心;照料;处理(attend to sth/ sb)I have some urgent business to attend to. 我有一些急事要处理。
3.contend /kənˈtend/
(1)v.声称,主张(≈ maintain)
He contends that the judge was wrong. 他声称法官是错的。
(2)v.竞争,争夺
Three armed groups were contending for power. 三个武装集团在争夺权力
4.compete /kəmˈpiːt/ v. 竞争(contend with sb for sth);参加比赛We can't compete with them on price. 我们在价格上无法与他们竞争。
5.intend /ɪnˈtend/ v.打算,计划;意指(≈mean);
I fully intended to pay for the damage. 我确实诚心想赔偿损失。
6.extend /ɪkˈstend/
(1)v.使伸长;扩大;扩展There are plans to extend the no-smoking area. 现已有扩大无烟区的计划。(2) 提供;给予(extend sth to sb),表达(≈ express)I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my heart-felt gratitude to the host. 我想借此机会向主人表示衷心的感谢。
7.extensive /ɪkˈstensɪv/
a.广阔的;广大的;大量的

8.pretend /prɪˈtend/ v.假装;佯装
He pretended to his family that everything was fine. 他对家人佯称一切都好。
9.pretentious /prɪˈtenʃəs/
a.炫耀的;虚夸的;自命不凡的
He's so pretentious! 瞧他那副自命不凡的样儿!
10.unpretentious /ˌʌnprɪˈtenʃəs/ a.谦虚谨慎的;不事张扬的;不爱炫耀的
The hotel is both comfortable and unpretentious.
